Canberra One Parent Family Support (COPFS) - Birthright, has been operating in the ACT since 1979. The Australian BIRTHRIGHT movement originated in Australia after some Sydney businessmen became impressed with the work that Legacy performed, helping the war widows and their children. There was an organisation named BIRTHRIGHT operating out of New Zealand and the men decided to create a similar organisation in Australia.

This all became a reality in 1965.
